Rickie Weeks Could This Be His Last Year

The Milwaukee Brewers are working on a contract extension with Rickie Weeks, but it has been a slow process so far. Weeks is a vital part of what the Brewers want to get accomplished. Rickie Weeks knows that he has a lot of bargaining power right now. He had a banner season and knows if the Brewers will not give him what he want someone else will. This is just how the baseball market is and the Brewers need to realize this.

Weeks does have some shortcomings as a player though. He has a high strikeout ratio and does have a high amount of errors as well. Even with that said the Milwaukee Brewers still need to add Weeks long-term if they hope of keeping the nucleus of this team together. Weeks is a great lead-off hitter and gets the offense going quickly. It will be interesting to see if the Brewers give him the money or decide to go in a different direction.

Brewers Turn Tables On Rockies Avoid Sweep

The Milwaukee Brewers struggled again today before Rickie Weeks and Cory Hart came to the rescue. Weeks and Hart hit two-run doubles in a five-run ninth inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers averted a series sweep by rallying for a 6-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. Trevor Hoffman pitched an scoreless eighth inning to get the win. This is a win the Brewers needed as they have been struggling to score runs and stopping other teams.

Rickie Weeks and Cory Hart together drove in five of the six runs for the Brewers. Cory Hart has played very well the past six weeks and has helped carry the Brewers. Milwaukee has to be consistent if they want to win more games. They could have won two of the three games if they would have gotten better pitching against Colorado. Being consistent is they key if you want to win series and Milwaukee is not consistent.
